THINK ABOUT IT

Many thoughts running through, and i hope i can let it all out. This will transcend all aspects of human living. Most especially that relating to that of my dear country. And right from that tossed around feeling you always have in your relationships, to the insensitive ones you have as hydra heads everywhere one turns to. And to the daily happenings and negative societal influences et al.
The country we all love is "turninoninown" and all we can do is watch. I don't think many of us have that boldness now. And of course no one can blame us, as we only heave sighs of tiredness, regret and the unwilling stance of not doing anything. So far i am not directly concerned, it is not my fault. And for how long do we continue? Think about it.

Now moving on as fast as possible, we now have fine boy "nappers" around. As KISS DANIEL would say. Our beautiful ladies are now pawns, highly valued resources to be utilized at any time. And no one is even concerned about the fact that we now have very confident ritualists amidst us. Pitiful when we see the results of these activities, we only heap blames on the feminine character involved in the whole scenario. Every time "wire" me money now. Lets continue shall we? We forget that if you don't lend a hand when they are carrying a very hideous package, you risk it being dumped at your backyard. And trust me you won't know jack. Just think about this

Its the time of elections now, and the gongs of campaign cannot be any louder than these periods. It can even become deafening at some point. But watch out and cast your votes in the best way possible. Aside that fact, as typical of Nigerians we have consciously narrowed down the race to that between two parties. The broom and the umbrella bearers and if it were be a sane state, there would be candidates appealing to the electorates and putting up constructive arguments and opinions on how best they are going to improve the polity. But no, we already have the MAINSTREAM and the ALTERNATIVE candidates. Wake up !! this is Nigeria. And as Francis would say, our leaders have constantly taken us for granted. They do not rate us in any way, and as citizens we have done absolutely nothing to fully entrench democracy. Think about it

He even goes further to give an instance of the scenario he witnessed in a political meeting organised by his kinsmen in his local hometown. The youths were clamoring for representation and all the candidate could respond to them with was " you clamor for representation. But how many of you are graduates. Even those who have chosen to learn a form of handwork or the other, how many have certificates of recognition" they would of course be mute. Finally giving us an overall picture of how we are rated. And come to think of it, who would blame them? we have finally reduced the race to that between two candidates who have no record of doing things right. But what do i know? more like a blind man leading a lame one. They going nowhere baby

Your favorite ASUU had to wait for more than 80 days before they could call off their strike. Only few murmurs were heard about it and even at a time, we were all concerned about #10yearchallenge. Even those scampering around on a quest to lead you, did not say jack about it. Of course, this is really the best way forward, Just think about it. You see there is something very peculiar about those who lead you, which you are so clueless about. They are clueless no doubt, and they have found a way to retain your servitude, and also succeeded in weaponising poverty among us through their various means. It saddens me a lot. They have sent their kids abroad, to come back and fill all those juicy positions you eye. And they retain the very laborious N- power, YOU- WIN, TRADER- MONI programs for y'all. And that is of course your entitlement in a country to us all. I am not slighting these programs, but i have just not seen their advantages just yet.

These funny ones, even further ridicule us by their funny and phony campaign strategies. They share cassava flakes (garri), and all sorts of funny items all in a bid to secure your vote. and we still do not think, ask Francis once again and he would tell you how the constituted authority is running his local state. we should just think about it. lastly you see that woman, yes that tall lanky miserable woman, picking off your dustbin. The struggling student, the dude who is constantly being ripped off, how about parting with thin wads of naira to put a little smile on their faces. But do we even take notice, we would rather face our hustle. Make that money and pop bottles and retain some to bath our wristwatches. " o ti gbope now". I am sorry though, who even gave me the right to tell people how to spend their hard earned money. Just think about it

Even funny enough, over time we have formed a way of telling people how best to live their lives. I still retain that opinion that we are all a product of our decisions. Just allow people to live. There is usually a place of admonition. But no one knows it all and we should allow for the independence of decision making. We all have our lives to live let's just think about it.

Nigeria Operates A Feudal System of Government. We Need To Stop Pretending This is A Democracy

Photo by David Rotimi on Unsplash Oftentimes, you hear Nigerians saying, 'Oh, Politics is a dirty game,' 'They are all liars, ' 'Politicians are so insincere,' etc. When I hear these statements, I often retort and insinuate in these conversations that we have never been interested in politics. We find ourselves today mainly due to our apathy towards the whole process. So, while this has rang true for decades, I now have a new theory.  We, as citizens, are to blame for everything you see happening in the Nigerian political space today. Nigeria has little to no relationship between the state and its citizens. Why would there be any? The citizens 'toil the ground' and do everything they can to make something out of the dire circumstances they have been dealt with, so naturally, that disconnect is created, and the resulting apathy is very intentional.  Now, this apathy and this pronounced disconnect allow a select few to get into the nation's politics b...

We Made Our Bed; Now It is Time To Sleep On It

Photo by Wesley Tingey on Unsplash Nigeria is a very hilarious place. Anything and anybody can drive conversations. The attention span is small, and just anything moves us around here. You do not even have to do anything special; anything delivering the smallest form of excitement moves us. Someone said our politicians must be thanking their stars, that they have to deal with this particular brand of humans. I totally agree because it is hilarious at this point.  The other day, the discussion was on the tribes with the best soups; shortly after, the conversation moved to some supernatural beings responsible for how small-scale businesses, retail outlets, etc., fail in the country. I mean, while other countries are busy innovating, finding newer ways to make their lives easier, and holding their elected leaders accountable, soups, magic, VDM, and Bobrisky vs. the House of Representatives are some of the issues we were so fixated on.  And yes, the notoriously popular 'VeryDarkM...

We Might Need To Tell Ourselves Some Truths

I have vivid recollections of some periods in my childhood. I am sure there were moments in yours that you could also remember. I remember Uncle Ade back then in primary school. The dude must have just graduated from University then and had to make do as a primary school teacher for some kids.  I remember his face, height, and how he sometimes spoke to us in chilled tones and always added random facts about just anything to his lessons. I remember how he once asked us what our favourite cities were, and as you would expect, we mentioned the places where our homes were, faraway Lagos, and some other cities we must have heard in passing from our parents.  When it was Uncle Ade's turn to tell us what his favourite city in the world was, he mentioned the city of Dublin. He spoke about how much he wanted to explore the city, its food, and all the experiences he wanted to have in it.  As I write this piece, I check out Dublin (On Google) and marvel at how much the city mu...
